Shanghai in Summer

Here I am in Shanghai again. This time it is summer and it is hot. We arrived at 7.30 am local time and the temperature was already 31 degrees – Auckland was 14 when I left yesterday. Once clearing Chinese Customs – I headed for the Maglev Train to go and meet with Ruth. The journey is only 30 kms and the normal metro takes 35 minutes – i managed to get the 9.00 am train and was on the it for 6 minutes. Yes 6 minutes. We very quickly got up to 431 km per hour – making this the fastest train in the world.

Sorry the picture is upside down but i am now on the other side of the world from N Z.

I meet Ruth and we got a taxi back to our hotel – the Hi inn.

All i wanted to do was get into a cool shower and get some sleep. Which i have doneĀ  Ruth is out visiting some of her old students while i rest

Tomorrow will be a walking day – looking forward to seeing some more of Shanghai.
