Cook Islands

Cook Islands

Our first Overseas trip for a few years – time to just rest and enjoy the sun and get away from our Winter.

Rarotonga  is 3 hours flight from New Zealand and takes you to another time and place – literally.

We left Auckland at 6.00pm of Friday night ( and cold) and arrived in Rarotonga at 2.30am on Friday morning ( lovely warm).

Off to our rented house – right beside the Edgewater Hotel on the Sunset side of the Island.

Hard to sleep that first morning – excited to be here.

After breakfast – walk up the beach and checking out our area. The house is an A frame house – living down stairs and bedroom and bathroom up stairs. We are hidden from the beach by trees – but have a way thru to the beach – so this means we can sunbathe in private.

We are about 5 minutes walk to the main entrance of the Edgewater and this is where you catch the bus to town (Avarua).

Talking about the bus – as you can see the island is not big. There are two buses that drive around the island. One goes around clockwise and the other  anti clockwise and both take approx 1 hour to do the trip. Both buses come to the Edgewater on the 20 past the hour.
