Back in Lima again. This time for two nights – no early start tomorrow. Yeah
BUT with the way I have been sleeping lately – it would not surprise me if I am awake early –
I had repacked my bags in Trujillo – because the extra stuff I bought over for the children is now not in my main case. I put some of my camera gear into the big case to help lighten my backpack for the flight down.
My main case with that extra weight was only just over 23 kgs and my backpack was as light as. Made for an easy trip.
Need to tell you about domestic flights in Peru. They wait till the passengers are on the plane – then they announce ” While we are refueling the plane – please remain in your seats but do not fasten your seat belts – why ? incase the plane catches fire and we all have to try and get off the plane.!!!!!!!!! And so much for all the signs that say only 8kg in take on luggage. I think if you are a little old lady – you can get away with anything. And at Trujillo – they opened all bags before we got to the checkin counter. – If I had known that – I would have put my dirty socks etc on top Ha Ha.
Actually – I took advantage of the fact I was in the same place for 7 days to get all my dirty clothes laundered. Very cheap.
Sandra my host in Lima arranged for a friendly taxi driver to pick me up. Talk about hairrazing ride. He was in a large SUV and drove like the chappers. and changed lanes – how we did not have an crash – I do not know.
On the positive side – he got me from the airport to Miraflora a way i had never been before. Thru some shortcuts to the Ocean and right along the waterfront – I had only seen the ocean from Miraflora before – so I did enjoy the extra view. This side of the Pacific ocean does not look as clean as our side.
Miraflora is the new part of Lima – mostly Hotels and Appartments – and I have found on the map – about 1 km from my digs – a raw cafe. Going to try that out for lunch tomorrow.
I do not have any plans yet for tomorrow except plently of walking. I have not yet done a 10000 step day – got to 8000 but most days have been in Taxis – buses – or private cars.
My host should be home from work soon – so will finish of now and give you all a big account of tomorrow tomorrow night.
